Weekly Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Round-Up: British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba

What is the PNP?

The PNP allows provinces to nominate candidates for permanent residence, focusing on those who fit their economic needs. A nomination strengthens a candidate's permanent residency application since provinces only select individuals who can economically establish themselves in their jurisdiction and help in addressing labour shortages.

A key highlight is that Express Entry candidates who secure a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency in the subsequent Express Entry draws.

British Columbia's PNP Results

In the recent draws, British Columbia extended invitations to over 225 candidates across four different categories of its PNP. The major draw didn't specify any occupation and was spread across the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled streams. The minimum Skilled Immigration Registrations System (SIRS) scores varied, with International Graduates requiring the highest at 109. The subsequent smaller draws mainly focused on Skilled Workers and International Graduates, with professions including Early childhood educators and assistants, healthcare professionals, and a few other priority occupations.

Alberta’s PNP Momentum

Alberta’s immigration initiatives this month were particularly noteworthy. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted a series of Express Entry draws, resulting in 647 candidates receiving invitations. The draws targeted various sectors, including healthcare, tourism and hospitality, and construction. The minimum CRS scores for these draws hovered around 303.

But why Alberta? The western Canadian province is rapidly becoming a hotspot for immigration. With a robust economy driven by sectors like oil, gas, technology, and healthcare, Alberta promises not only job opportunities but also a high standard of living. Its unique blend of rich cultural heritage, community spirit, and a welcoming environment make it stand out. Moreover, when compared to provinces like British Columbia and Ontario, Alberta offers a relatively lower cost of living.

Manitoba's Selection

Manitoba sent out 623 letters of advice through their MPNP, which included 178 Express Entry candidates. Invitations were extended to Skilled Workers already in Manitoba, with many requiring specific National Occupational Classification codes. Others were drawn from the International Education stream and the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.

Closing Thoughts

Canada's dedication to welcoming skilled immigrants is evident in these provincial initiatives, which ensure regions across the country benefit from the skills and contributions of newcomers. For potential immigrants, the message is clear: there are numerous pathways to explore for making Canada your new home. Those interested should stay updated with the latest rounds of invitations and criteria changes, as provinces are actively looking for individuals to boost their labour force and contribute to their economies.

Remember, if you are among the invited candidates, especially in Alberta, ensure you respond promptly with the required documentation within the stipulated two-week timeframe.

Canada, with its vast landscapes and diverse provinces, remains a land of opportunities. Whether you're an international graduate, a skilled professional, or an entrepreneur, the nation's welcoming arms are open, with a promise of a brighter and prosperous future.
